movie night

I’m no fan of tax dollars going to support public broadcasting, but I still think PBS puts out some very educational content. I’m sure they would do just fine with private, corporate and charitable foundation donations. They also have a lot of merchandising. I’m sure they’d still be around without Federal tax dollars. Of course, of all the money the government pilfers from me, I probably get the greatest rerun from PBS. Yes, I’m well aware that they are left leaning and we have to keep our B.S. filter running when we watch it, but nevertheless, they do put out some great content. Tonight’s movie is no exception. Of all the programs on PBS, Frontline may be the most informative. It may be the most informative show on television for that matter.

United States of Secrets follows the growth of the surveillance state from the Patriot Act all the way through today. It has interview segments from both sides of the fence. Part One focuses on the early years with Skull and Bonesman George Bush and Part Two focuses heavily on Edward Snowden’s revelations.

Enjoy the show!
