harvest

Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed.  As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop–a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” Matthew 13:3-8

Jesus tells his disciples that the seed in the parable is the message of the Kingdom of God. He goes on to explain why several different types of soil were unfruitful. For some, the message was stolen away by the birds which represent the Devil. For some, they were too shallow and didn’t persevere in their faith. Then comes the real risk for most modern-day Christians. The thorns are the worries of this world and the deceitfulness of wealth which chokes out the message of the Kingdom. It’s the worries and the tiny compromises that take the place of our time alone with God. We get busy with the necessary and good things of life. There is nothing wrong with working hard and being busy. In 2 Thessalonians, Paul claims that if a man will not work, he should not eat. The problem lies in allowing work and the pursuit of riches take the first priority in our lives.

And the enemy knows this is an effective tool against Christians. He is always there planting a thought on why you should check your email or take a look at what the market is doing before you’ve had your time alone with God. Once you do, his foot is in the door and you’ll fight long and hard to get that door shut so you can have your time of devotion. Seek first his Kingdom and all these other things will be added to you.

If you are new to prepping or would like to learn more about how to prepare for tomorrow, please read our 7 Step Preparedness Plan. Come back every Sunday for a new Prepper Bible Study! The most important prep of all is knowing GOD. Jesus said “what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his own soul?” Prepper translation: “What good will it do you to survive the coming economic collapse, nuclear war or even a zombie apocalypse if you don’t know you will go to heaven when you die.” A recent study found that 10 out of 10 people die! On that day we will meet our Maker. It only makes sense to be prepared for that day. Click here to learn more about knowing GOD.

Have a blessed day and happy prepping!
