“Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse, who leave the straight paths to walk in dark ways, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,  whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.”

Proverbs 2:12-15

The tragic events form the past week in Ferguson have shown us exactly what happens when wisdom is ignored. We have heard of another  alleged shooting of an unarmed man. We’ve heard that he was a suspect in a strong arm robbery, but no weapon has been produced by police. It looks like another murder by a person in uniform that is being covered up by the police.

As horrific as that is, we have seen members of that community use the event to validate their own criminal actions. Many have went on a wild looting and vandalism spree against businesses and people who had nothing to do with the criminal actions or cover-up by the police.

We saw the police use the looting and vandalism to rubber-stamp further criminal actions against innocent Americans. Members of the press were deliberately assaulted by police with tear gas and had their equipment stolen. Other members of the press were arrested for filming police. Is this China or North Korea where we aren’t allowed to film law enforcement? If an officer is doing his job within the confines of the law, he should be happy to be filmed.

In this situation, both parties have left “the straight paths to walk in dark ways.” Both the police and the criminal element in that community “rejoice in the perverseness of evil,  and  are devious in their ways.” It’s  a sad time in our country when you don’t know who is worse; the proverbial good guys or the bad guys.

I think wisdom would dissuade us from choosing sides in this particular battle. The American people are the true victims. We are the ones who have lost civility in our culture at the hands of ruthless thugs who look for any excuse to pillage and loot. We have lost our feeling of trust for law enforcement agencies responsible for protecting and serving the citizens of Ferguson.

If you are one of the many law enforcement officers who have taken an oath to defend the Constitution, you have to do some soul searching about staying on with an agency that will not discipline its own for the shooting of unarmed suspects and suppresses the First Amendment by harassing the press. It is a good time to ask for wisdom to “save you from the ways of wicked men.”

If you are new to prepping or would like to learn more about how to prepare for tomorrow, please read our 7 Step Preparedness Plan. Come back every Sunday for a new Prepper Bible Study! The most important prep of all is knowing GOD. Jesus said “what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his own soul?” Prepper translation: “What good will it do you to survive the coming economic collapse, nuclear war or even a zombie apocalypse if you don’t know you will go to heaven when you die.” A recent study found that 10 out of 10 people die! On that day we will meet our Maker. It only makes sense to be prepared for that day. Click here to learn more about knowing GOD.

Have a blessed day and happy prepping!
