Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Bullies
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. Matthew 7:12
Today’s Bible verse is pretty straight forward, right? I know how I like to be treated. I like to be spoken to with respect, I like people to smile at me, say “hi,” that sort of thing. Since I know how I like to be treated, I have a good idea of how I should be treating others. Generally, I think I do a good job of smiling and speaking to people with respect. I try to be considerate of other people’s feelings and empathetic to their struggles.
Now what happens when we throw a bully into the mix? What then? How would I want to be treated if I was a bully? Having never been a bully, I find that hard to consider. What I can consider, as someone who has to co-exist in a society with bullies, is how I’d like the bully to be treated. I’d like to see him get busted in the mouth.
In this instance, we have to think about who the “others” are in the verse. The majority of people in society have a larger representation for “others” than the few bullies. So from their vantage point, they’d most likely want to see the bully put in his place. Each time a bully gets away with pushing someone around, he is emboldened to be a bigger bully. Every time you fight back and put him in his place, he becomes a little less likely to push around the next guy. This is one time that turning the other cheek isn’t necessarily the right thing to do.
What about from the bullies perspective? If he keeps getting away with pushing people around, others won’t like him and he may eventually get killed for being a bully. If you pop him in the mouth, perhaps he’ll see the error of his ways, be more socially well-adjusted, have more friends and not get shot by the next guy he decides to push around.
Whether it’s the school yard, workplace or government bully, do unto others as you’d have done unto you and put a stop to the bullying.
If you are new to prepping or would like to learn more about how to prepare for tomorrow, please read our 7 Step Preparedness Plan. Come back every Sunday for a new Prepper Bible Study! The most important prep of all is knowing GOD. Jesus said “what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his own soul?” Prepper translation: “What good will it do you to survive the coming economic collapse, nuclear war or even a zombie apocalypse if you don’t know you will go to heaven when you die.” A recent study found that 10 out of 10 people die! On that day we will meet our Maker. It only makes sense to be prepared for that day. Click here to learn more about knowing GOD.
Have a blessed day and happy prepping!
