There’s an old jest that says, heaven is where the cooks are French, the mechanics are German, and the police are English. And hell is where the cooks are English, the mechanics are French, and the police are German.

If it’s true for entire cultures, then it certainly must be so for individuals; there are things we are inherently good at and other things that we’re not so good at.

What’s that talent that God gave you? Do you have a green thumb? Maybe you can play anything on a guitar without even looking at the music, or whip up a dish with no recipe; maybe you’re just good at cheering people up, or caring for the sick. No doubt, you’ve discovered it. It’s that thing that everyone asks, “How do you do that and how do you make it look so easy?”

Whatever it is, God gave you that gift for His glory and for you to bless others with. Ironically, when you are doing it, you feel happier and more alive than at any other time. That’s no coincidence. You were literally made to do that thing.

The funny saying at the beginning of the post is so amusing, because it is so true. In addition to cultural giftings, it points out some things that those same cultures can fall a little short at. The moral of the story is that when people operate outside of their gifts, we all suffer. The enemy will always try to sideline you with things that are so important that you just don’t have time, but you have to make a priority out of doing what you’re good at. Even in church, people are often pushed into a ministry for which they have no aptitude, making a mess out of that ministry, and altogether missing the ministry God has called them to.

If you’re a fan of Mark Dice’s man-on-the-street videos, or perhaps the man-on-the-street interviews by Jesse Watters ,which highlight the fact that today’s youth doesn’t know who won the Civil War, who we won our independence from in the Revolutionary War, or whether Judge Judy is on the Supreme Court, you might be tempted to get upset at the educational system. But, according to today’s verse, it was never their responsibility. Yes, the educational system has been completely hijacked by the socialists and the communists, and yes, there is an agenda behind dumbing down your kids, but it is the responsibility of the parents and the grandparents to teach children why this was a Christian nation.

Furthermore, it is the responsibility of parents to know what their children are being taught. And in case you didn’t know, if your kids are in public school, they’re being taught that there is no God. Darwinism is not just about science, it is about faith. Darwinism promotes the religion of atheism. If you are sending your children to learn atheism 30 hours a week, and Christianity 1 hour a week, don’t be surprised when they no longer espouse the beliefs you thought you were teaching them in your home. If this fact doesn’t bother you, boys in the shower room with your teenage daughter shouldn’t really be an issue.

Through his spokesman, The King of Assyria, Sennacherib promised the Israelites peace and prosperity if they would just give up. He assured them that God would never deliver them and that it was a good bargain.

Satan often sends his spokesman to us, promising that things will go much easier if we’ll just give in and let go of our silly faith in God.

Likewise, Dan Cathy, CEO of Chick Fil-A was assured that if he would only acquiesce and shut up about his biblical views of gay marriage, all would go well for him and the company. However, after caving to the pressure, he is finding out that deals made with the devil are seldom upheld by the other side. His company continues to be the target of left-wing extremism and intolerant hatred, despite rolling over like a trained dog.

This week, stand up for what you believe in and be strong. As millions of European Jews learned during WWII, going along to get along doesn’t work anyway.
