Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Fear of the Lord

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Proverbs 9:10

One of my favorite movie is The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Mr. Fox’s sidekick is Kylie, a well-meaning opossum. At various instances throughout the movie, Kylie’s eyes glaze over and he sort of gets stuck on stupid. I do that when people try to give me verbal directions to any given location. I can read a map great, but “take a right, go three blocks and it’s the first house on the left,” forget about it.

Likewise, when I look at the American church, they sort of look like Kylie. Their eyes are glazed over and nothing is getting through. In fact, spiritually speaking, it seems to be a pretty accurate likeness of the entire country. Given what has happened to nations that have forsaken God in the past, we must look utterly stupid to Him.

The faithful remnant who are aware of the sins of this country and God’s reputation for dealing with sin are anxiously awaiting what will happen on the Shemitah, September 13 of this year. Some are praying for mercy. I wonder if that is what we should be praying for. Maybe we should be praying that God will wake this country up; wake up His church and teach us the fear of the Lord; for that is the beginning of wisdom and the end of our foolish stupor.

Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Desolation Shall Come Suddenly

Therefore hear this now, you who are given to pleasures, Who dwell securely, Who say in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, Nor shall I know the loss of children’;But these two things shall come to you In a moment, in one day: The loss of children, and widowhood. They shall come upon you in their fullness Because of the multitude of your sorceries, For the great abundance of your enchantments. For you have trusted in your wickedness; You have said, ‘No one sees me’; Your wisdom and your knowledge have warped you; And you have said in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me.’ Therefore evil shall come upon you; You shall not know from where it arises. And trouble shall fall upon you; You will not be able to put it off. And desolation shall come upon you suddenly, Which you shall not know.
Isaiah 47:8-11
You may notice that we’ve started using the NKJV. A big shout out to Manny for opening my eyes to some of the inconsistencies in several of the other popular translations.
Today’s verse needs little commentary. It speaks for itself. But, if you’ll indulge me, I’ll make a couple of quick points.
For starters, you who are given to pleasures, Who dwell securely. Does that sound like any particular country you know?
Or how about, I am, and there is no one else besides me. This statement speaks of being your own god, making your own rules. The US has no need of a Higher Power to tell us what is or isn’t marriage. And likewise, we can allow convenience to dictate when life begins. Recently we’ve learned that convenience has allowed abortion profiteers to extract human body parts from murdered non-humans. Now if that isn’t a multitude of  sorceries, I don’t know what is.
The ruling majority in Washington have trusted in their wickedness;  and their knowledge have warped them. Warped, that just about sums it all up doesn’t it?
Therefore evil shall come upon you; You shall not know from where it arises. And trouble shall fall upon you; You will not be able to put it off. The Federal Reserve was able to postpone our day of reckoning through monetary policy and printing money out of nowhere. We’ve nearly doubled the M2 money supply since the last crisis and rates are close to zero, so there is very little we could do to stem the tide if we were to experience another 9/11 type event or another market downturn like 2008. We’ve put it off for about as long as we can.
And desolation shall come upon you suddenly, Which you shall not know. If you’re still thinking about getting prepared, stop thinking and start doing. Pray up, store up, team up, and train up. Every day, I get up and I’m supprised that God has granted this nation another day with which to poke him in the eye and mock his Holy World. Shemitah is right around the corner. We’ll see if He lets us continue to lay in our beds of comfort and luxury past that date.

Sunday Prepper Bible Study- The Warrior King

Who is this who comes from Edom, With dyed garments from Bozrah, This One who is glorious in His apparel, Traveling in the greatness of His strength?– “I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.” Why is Your apparel red, And Your garments like one who treads in the winepress? “I have trodden the winepress alone, And from the peoples no one was with Me. For I have trodden them in My anger, And trampled them in My fury; Their blood is sprinkled upon My garments, And I have stained all My robes. For the day of vengeance is in My heart, And the year of My redeemed has come.
Isaiah 63:1-4
Do you find it odd that Jesus isn’t recognized upon his return? Could it be because next time he more closely represents a lion than a lamb? Exodus 15:3 tells us that the Lord is a warrior. He always has been and he always will be. The last time Jesus came, he had a mission. He had to lay down his perfect life as a holy sacrifice that we might be saved. That mission is complete. Don’t expect him to be quite so acquiescent upon his return. People who are looking for a Jesus in flip flops, petting a lamb, may not recognize the Warrior King covered in blood. Once that mission is complete, I’m praying that we can get back to flip-flop Jesus, because the Warrior King sort of scares me.
The important thing to remember, is that Jesus is a humble servant who teaches us to serve. But he is also a violent warrior when it’s time to fight.
At the risk of sounding like a Calvanist, I’ll remind you that Romans 8 says we were predestined to be conformed into the image of Christ. So, that transformation means that we take on all of his attributes. Both the ability to forgive and the courage to stand up and fight when it’s time.
Pray always that God will give you wisdom to know when to exercise humility and when to take a stand against evil. Don’t tight-cast Jesus into a role where he can only play the lamb led to slaughter. Don’t make the mistake of those who didn’t recognize the Warrior King in Isaiah 63.
