Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Watch Your Doctrine

Yesterday’s post was a rip on the number one cable news show in America, Bill O’Reilly. I pointed out O’Reilly’s defense of the house-to-house gun confiscation in Louisianan after Hurricane Katrina. The point was that just because he is popular, and broadcasts on a so-called conservative news channel doesn’t make him right. I wish this problem was contained to cable news, but unfortunately, it is also an epidemic among churches.

So now what? Should we just turn off the news, quit going to church and hide our head in the sand? Absolutely not! It is your responsibility as a citizen to listen to news commentators and politicians and hold up what they say to the Constitution which is the law of the land. In the same way, it is your responsibility to read the Bible. Get to know what God has to say on important issues so you can hold up what your pastor is preaching against the Bible. If his message is faithful, thank him and let him know you appreciate it. Also pray for him, because if he teaching God’s word correctly, I can guarantee Satan has a target on his back. If what your pastor teaches doesn’t line up with the Word of God, vote with your feet and find another church. Can’t find a good church? That’s no excuse not to worship. Start your own home Bible study.

Patriot or Pinhead?

I think we can all agree that MSNBC and CNN are liberal smut and poisonous to our minds. But when you continue to watch FOX, you continue to put your personal stamp of approval on a network that gives Neo-con Bill O’Reilly a platform. The following video shows that O’Reilly’s ideology is just as poisonous as Obama’s. In the following video, Bill defends the house-to-house confiscation of firearms from the homes of law abiding citizens in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina.

Yes, from time to time, even I post video clips from FOX news. Once in a while they do get it right, but FOX is not a station that you can just turn on and listen to at the end of the day when you are too tired to think. If you’re going to watch it, you have to have your BS meter plugged in, be on full alert and ready to call out the bad doctrine, lies and spin; just like the other major news networks.

Many people who claim to be conservatives are mindlessly following O’Reilly, cheering him on and making him the number one cable news show in America. When I see so much support from so-called conservatives for this pinhead masquerading as a patriot, I fear our team has been infiltrated to a point from which there is no turning back.

It’s not easy finding a good news source, but nothing cheap, free or easy is ever worth having.

Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Why Believe in the Resurection?

“Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”  So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb.  Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.  He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.  Then Simon Peter, who was behind him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there,  as well as the burial cloth that had been around Jesus’ head. The cloth was folded up by itself, separate from the linen. Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.” 

John 20:1-8

Verse eight of today’s Bible study tells us that John saw and believed. We weren’t there, so the skeptics among us might ask why we should believe.

If you ask God to show Himself to you, I can promise He will. If you seek Him, I promise you will find Him.

“That’s great,” the skeptic might say, “but where is the hard evidence?” There is always going to be an element of faith, but I can give you some pretty solid circumstantial proof. I think the strongest proof is the action of his disciples. These men go from cowering in fear behind locked doors before they learn that Christ has risen, to martyrdom because they won’t give up this story about a man who rose from the dead. While many of us might be willing to die for the truth, how many would die the types of deaths that the disciples suffered over a lie? All of the remaining 11 disciples except John were killed for their faith. John was boiled in oil, but lived to be exiled on the Isle of Patmos.

Friday Night at the Movies- The Passion of the Christ

Tonight’s movie is The Passion of The Christ. God bought our ticket to heaven, because none of us could afford the price of admission. I’m very thankful for that. It’s impossible to be truly grateful unless we know what a high price it was. I doubt we’ll ever fully understand what Jesus had to go through to pay our penalty for sin, but tonight’s show gives us a glimpse of the pain and suffering He was willing to endure so we could spend eternity with him.

Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Luke 21:20-21

“When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city.”

-Luke 21:20-21

Jesus hands out some pretty solid advice in today’s verse. Not only did it prove to be wise counsel when Jerusalem was sacked in 70 AD, it is always going to be better to not be in a major metropolitan area when wars break out or tough times come around. One of the main reasons it’s better to be in the mountains or the countryside is because the cities are targets because of the high concentration of people. They are easier to quarantine and control because of the limited geographical area to cover. If the objective of the invading force is to terminate life, everyone is corralled into a single kill zone in the city. In other types of disasters, cities become battlegrounds for limited resources. If you live inside of a city, make sure you consider today’s verse and come up with a good bug out plan.
