Sunday Prepper Bible Study- The Criminal King
And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Luke 23:42-43
Luke 23 has the oddest cast of characters of any story I’ve ever heard of. It has a lackey governor, full of pride who assumes he has authority over the King of the Universe. In his arrogance, this governor sentences a man he knows to be innocent to please a group of people he doesn’t even like, all for the sake of politics. And in so doing, condemns himself for eternity.
It has a convicted criminal who pardons another convict. But how did he come to have the power to pardon? By the very act of laying down his perfect, sinless life. After all, we serve a just God who could not have let the thief’s crimes go unpunished.
And then, there is you. Which role will you play in the story? Will you, in your pride, seek to please people you don’t even like and fail to recognize the eternal consequences of not worshiping the King? Or will you, like the thief, recognize that you deserve your punishment and ask the man who was convicted for your sins to pardon you?
And by the way, wasn’t Easter last month? Why are we getting this story now? Yes, Easter was last month, but this Friday is Passover, which was when our messiah was crucified to be our Passover Lamb, in order that his blood might be smeared on the door frames of our heart so the angel of death will pass over us.
Come back every Sunday for a new Prepper Bible Study! The most important prep of all is knowing GOD. Jesus said “what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his own soul?” Prepper translation: “What good will it do you to survive the coming economic collapse, nuclear war or even a zombie apocalypse if you don’t know you will go to heaven when you die.” A recent study found that 10 out of 10 people die! On that day we will meet our Maker. It only makes sense to be prepared for that day. Click here to learn more about knowing GOD.
Have a blessed day and happy prepping!
