On today’s show, I cover martial arts for preparedness. I cover various disciplines and why I believe preppers should consider getting trained to fight. I talk about the recent Google outage which locked people out of their smart homes and prevented users from having AC on a very hot day. I also address the rising firestorm of pro-life legislation taking hold in America.
Thanks to Tom L. for sending me info on the pro-life front.
Thank you for sharing about martial arts for preppers!
Like you, we’ve recently started martial arts. We’re 50 and 49 and, along with our 10-year-old son, are learning Yongmudo. It’s for self-defense combining blocks, strikes, kicks from taekwondo, grappling techniques from hapkido, throwing from judo, and wrestling from ssireum.
It’s been amazing. And is definitely a workout. The classes are challenging but very much worth it. A few days ago we had a belt test, which is an excellent way to see progress. Like you, we have a small homestead which provides some activity but the Yongmudo really takes it to another level.
I’ve also taken a few basic Krav Maga classes and full or half day women’s self-defense workshops. While I do feel a dedicated practice is best, even these introductory classes are very beneficial.
I do pray we never have to use these skills, but having the ability and knowledge gives me a measure of comfort.
Millie,
That sounds like a very practical discipline. Keep up the good work!
