Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Nehemiah 4:9
But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites and the men of Ashdod heard that the repairs to Jerusalem’s walls had gone ahead and that the gaps were being closed, they were very angry. They all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble against it. But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat. Nehemiah 4:7-9
Last week, we talked about opposition and how it can be confirmation that you’re on the right track. I put last week’s verse in with today’s to provide some context. In verse 9, we see what Nehemiah’s response to the opposition was. Notice that he didn’t give up and say “Well the enemy is plotting against us so this must not be God’s will.” He didn’t just pray and put it all in God’s hands. Neither did he take on the problem completely in the flesh by simply posting a guard. No. First he prayed, trusting God to do his part, then he posted a guard and accepted his responsibility in meeting the threat with physical force. God doesn’t want you to try fix every problem by yourself. He also doesn’t want you to dump it in his lap and walk away. He wants you to work with him in solving the issue. Co-laboring with someone, particularly through a hardship builds a deep, unbreakable relationship, which has always been God’s number one priority.
