In today’s interview, I did my best to take the complex nature of interest rate swaps and explain them in easy to understand terms. In this interview, I explain how this class of derivatives could cripple our economy. I give the specific laws that will apply to bankruptcy of the large banks when the derivatives time bomb explodes. Most folks wrongly believe that their deposits belong to them, and that they will be first in line in case of a bankruptcy. In fact, the derivatives will receive super priority and depositors will be treated as unsecured creditors if that awful day ever comes. Folks then believe that the FDIC will make them whole, but the FDIC is insuring nearly $10 trillion in deposits with an insurance fund of around $30 billion or 0.3% of the amount insured. Yes, the Fed will print the money to get to the depositors, but what will be the value of the dollars once all of those newly created bills get into circulation? The time is now to start hedging yourself for such a dark day.

In a recent Fox News article, it was reported that soldiers being deployed were given a briefing in which they were told that Christians and Tea Party Patriots were enemies of America. They were told that if any of them were caught donating to these two organizations that they would be punished. Last week I wrote about the persecution of Christians in the military and how they were denied their First Amendment rights to pray in Jesus name or to talk about their faith with others in the military.

We have not been officially labeled as the enemy. The soldiers were told that Tea Party Patriots and Christians were responsible for tearing this country apart. The time to choose is now. The time to make up your mind what you will do when tyranny knocks at your door it today. Choose this day whom you will serve and choose what side you will be on. The battle lines are being drawn. This is no longer a far fetched conspiracy theory, this is main stream media reporting these infractions. Remember the Jews in the Holocaust. They continued to tolerate each minor infraction until the day they were loaded into the cattle cars and headed into the “showers”.

Make up your mind to speak up now. Once you are in the cattle car, it is too late. I would think very long and very hard before joining the military or giving my son or daughter my blessing for them to join an organization that trains warriors to see patriots and Christians as the enemy.

US Debt “Free For All”- RINOs, Libtards and Obama’s Big Spending Spree

What in the devil just happened? Are you still spinning from the debt ceiling fiasco and wondering what was included when the Neocon RINO camp of the Republican Party gave away the farm? Well, join the crowd.

What happens on February 7th? Will congress be forced to get a debt resolution to control spending and get us back on a sustainable path? Not a snowball chance in Hades! The golden ticket legislation that McCain, Graham and McConnell handed over to Obama allows the government to go hog wild on spending with no limits at all between now and February 7th. After that, the government will not be allowed to rack up any new debt until a deal is made. I will remind you that they had not racked up new debt since last May this time around. The Treasury has been using “extraordinary measures” to keep from hitting the debt ceiling since then. They have been digging money from in between the couch cushion so to speak. The first thing the Treasury did when the debt ceiling agreement was struck was quickly stick all that “spare change” back in the couch. That resulted in a $300 billion dollar overnight increase in US debt and quickly rocketed the debt past $17 trillion dollars. The debt now far outstrips 100% of annual GDP, a key figure that many economists say represents the point at which economic failure becomes all but certain.

We just bought an extra 5 months with the couch cushion money. I would imagine since that trick worked so well last time, they conveniently squirreled away a couple hundred dollar bills for next time. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next debt ceiling debate is pushed back until September. Talk about pulling a fast one. All of the people we have sent to Washington except a very few patriots like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz just robbed us blind. We have to get those people out of office as soon as possible.

The rest of the world is laughing at us as they see us let these people drive our country straight over the edge. If you haven’t gotten serious about prepping, it is time to get to it. This won’t end well.

In this interview, I give an abbreviated run down of the Prepper Recon 7 Step Survival Plan. I say abbreviated, but the interview actually runs for over an hour. I hope to go back on the The Midnight Patriot on Thursdays to give a more in depth presentation of each of the 7 Steps.

We talked a bit about Step 1 in the interview which is Body, Mind and Soul. You are your number one survival tool, so you have to take care of all the aspects of your being.

Then we talked about Step 2, which is Budget. So many preppers create there own personal SHTF experiences by not getting in control of their money.

Step 3 in my plan is the Bug Out Bag. I give a few quick tips on what you should put in your bag to sustain you for 72 hours.

Next is Beans. I explained a few things folks can do to get some basic long term storage food for under $20. We also talk about storage methods.

Once those area are taken care of we can move on to Bullets. Step 5 is all about defending your home and your family.

Then we talk about long term wealth preservation. Silver and Gold may or may not be used as barter items during the collapse, but when the smoke clears, I think it will have proved to be an excellent form of wealth protection. Bullion is Step 6.

The final step in my 7 Step Survival Plan is Bug Out Location. You should be thinking of where you can go if you have to evacuate your present location for any reason.

Listen to the interview, I think new preppers will learn a lot and seasoned prows will be reminded of the basics. It was a fantastic experience for me to be on the show and to get back to the basics of prepping, because prepping is all about the basics. Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Can God Bless Our Military?

Today’s Bible verse proclaims a timeless spiritual truth. All through the Bible, we read stories of Israel’s military victories and failures. The victories are always linked to their obedience and Godly leadership. Their defeats are always linked to periods of insubordination to God’s Word and leadership that steers them away from God.

One of our recent Sunday Prepper Bible Studies pointed out the Pentagon’s stance on religious freedom for our armed forces. The Pentagon has restricted military chaplains from praying in “Jesus name”. They have continued the assault on our warriors’ First Amendment rights beyond this abuse.  Soldiers caught sharing Christianity can face a court martial.

I respect and appreciate all the sacrifice that has been made and continues to be made by the men and women serving in our armed forces. However, if I were a young man or woman considering a career in the military right now, I would be very hesitant about committing my life and safety to a military organization that not only fails to recognize the need for God’s blessings, but is outright attacking the right of its men and women of seeking those blessings on an individual level.

Today’s verse says that God himself will be the one who tramples down our enemies. If we will not seek his blessings, I am afraid we are on our own. I would not want to have folks shooting at me without the covering of God’s protection.

Preppers often look for items that have several different uses, especially when thinking of items for the bug out  bag. A couple of items we commonly think of as having several uses are Para-cord and Duct Tape. When we put things in our go bag that have several uses, we conserve valuable space. Many of us live in smaller spaces and also have to conserve space when stockpiling items at home. This weeks Prepper Recon Podcast will be focusing on prepping in an Apartment. Baking soda is prepper gold. It has so many more uses than just keeping your fridge fresh. Here are just a few.

1. Reduce cooking time for dried beans

If you have been reading my blog for any amount of time, you know that I recommend stockpiling dried beans as an emergency food reserve. They are cheap and they have a lot of nutritional value, fiber and protein. The only draw back to stockpiling dried beans is the long cooking time. Even after soaking dried beans over night, they can take up to two hours to cook. In a TEOTWAWKI situation, fuel may be a precious commodity and two hours of cooking will use up a lot of it. Putting a heaping tablespoon of baking soda in the soak water the night before cooking your beans will cut the cooking time in half. That is not just a good idea for when it hits the fan, you can start using this method now. It also makes beans more digestible and will reduce the amount of gas for easily disturbed tummies.

2. Personal hygiene

Baking soda can be used for deodorant toothpaste and even to fight smelly feet. This is a muti-use item that can cover a lot of areas with one product. It is a must have for your bug out bag. It can even be used for shampoo in a pinch.

3. Rabbit repellant for the garden

Rabbits don’t like baking soda. Sprinkle a bit around the perimeter or you garden to keep away Peter Cottontail.

4. Medical uses

Baking soda can be mixed with a cup of water for a natural heartburn reliever. It can also be used as a paste to remove the sting from sunburn and insect bites and stings. If you are hiking or bugging out by foot in a warm humid climate, it can also prevent chafing between your thighs.

5. Cleaning

Baking soda can be used to clean up your mess kit while camping or bugging out. It easily removes the char from the bottom of your pans that may come when cooking over an open fire. It also breaks up the grease on the inside of the pans. It can even be used as laundry detergent while you are in the great outdoors. Particularly if you are in “escape and evasion” mode, baking soda will get your clothes clean without adding any unwanted scent that will make you easier to track.

I know there are thousand of uses for baking soda besides the ones that I mentioned I mostly tried to stick with the ones that pertain to preparedness. There are many more that pertain to day to day  uses around the house. Leave a comment and let us know a couple of your favorite uses for baking soda.
