Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Merry Christmas

John 10:10

The story of Christmas is always a beautiful one . . . for us. But what about for God? Why would he choose to leave Heaven, where he reigned as King Eternal, to be born, in a barn, impoverished, to be mocked, ridiculed and eventually murdered? It’s not exactly the dream vacation we all hope for.

Today’s verse gives us the reason for the season. John 10:10 is basically his mission statement. In the garden, when Adam and Eve fell, death came upon the earth, just as God promised it would if they chose to disobey him. And don’t be too hard on the fallen couple, each and everyone of us have been willing participants in the fall. While our first sins individually may not have involved a piece of forbidden fruit, all of us have, at some point in our lives, chosen to do things our way rather than God’s way. That is exactly what Adam and Eve did in the garden to bring death and everything else associated with the curse to earth.

Jesus, left his immortal realm to become subjected to pain, sorrow, and death in order to defeat the curse, pay the price that we might have life and have it more abundantly! It was the most expensive Christmas gift every purchased, but it is absolutely free to you. Please don’t miss out on it.

Sunday Prepper Bible Study-Thy Will Be Done

A couple of weeks ago, we talked about the Lord’s Prayer and determined that it is unbiblical to pray to Mary or the saints. With that said, it is hard to find a better example of a servant with a heart after God than Mary. When she prayed, be it unto me according to thy word, she echoed the very words of the Messiah, thy will be done, even before they had been spoken. Even if she didn’t yet understand the heartache she would have to endure as she watched her first-born son crucified, surely she understood that she would be mocked and rejected as a harlot by those who would never believe her account of the immaculate conception. Mary was chosen because God knew she wanted to please him more than man. He knew she was more concerned with living an obedient life than being respectable, comfortable, or happy. While it’s not biblical to pray to Mary, we would all do well to pray that we would be as ready to accept God’s will, what ever it may be, as Mary was.

Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Unbelief

And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

Mark 9:24

It’s fairly easy to claim we believe when the challenge comes from a colleague or coworker, but what about when it really costs us something? Do we believe enough to still believe when our faith will cost us a job like the Kleins from Sweet Cakes Bakery, US Marine Monifa Sterling or Coach Joe Kennedy? Are we so certain that the riches of heaven are waiting for us on the other side of the veil? What about when our faith means incarceration like it did for KY Clerk, Kim Davis? Are we so sure our imprisonment on this side will earn us a reward in eternal freedom? When your faith is life or death, will you still profess to know Christ, just as those who are being beheaded throughout the Middle East?

While no one can say what grade they’ll get on a test until they take it, there are a few simple indicators to give us an idea. When considering if you would be willing to loose your job for the sake of Christ, ask yourself, are you tithing? If you don’t have the faith to give up 10% of your income, it’s not likely that you’d be willing to give up the other 90% either. What about dying for Jesus? Do you make a priority out of reading His Word, praying and being part of a local church? If you can’t find time to live for Him, you probably don’t have the faith it would take to die for Him.

So, if a simple self examination has you thinking your faith might not be what you thought it was, should you just through in the towel? Not at all. The first step is the same as it was for the father in today’s verse. Tell Jesus you need help with your unbelief. Then, obey Him as he guides you in the correct steps to strengthen it. And remember, faith comes by hearing the Word of God, so you might have to replace some of the other things in your life with listening to good teachings or reading the Bible more often.
