Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Proverbs 1:32

For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them. 

Proverbs 1:32

I’ve written a post about this verse before, but it’s so important that I thought we could go over it again. Complacency is the exact opposite of vigilance, which is required of every Christian, every patriot and every prepper. I would guess that anyone reading this post would have to fall into at least one of those categories.

As Christians, we have to be vigilant to watch out for the common traps that steer us away from our faith. In Matthew 13, Jesus warns of the cares of this world which cause the Word of God to not be fruitful in our lives. God warns Cain in the book of Genesis that sin is crouching at his door. Cain was complacent and didn’t take the warning to heart, so, his complacency destroyed him.

The patriot must not allow himself to become complacent. Our freedom is deteriorating at a rapidly increasing rate. In the past few weeks, we’ve seen the ATF attempt to ban 5.56 steel core ammo and the FCC step into assume responsibility over the last remaining venue of free speech. I’m sure the internet will soon be like many college campuses which now have free-speech zones as the First Amendment is no longer permissible outside of a regulated area.

Being a prepper in South Florida, I see vigilance in preparedness in years directly after a major hurricane. As each year without a major storm passes that vigilance slips and slips into a comfortable complacency until folks are once again, down to a day or two of supplies in their pantry. That’s usually when the big ones hit.

It’s a good idea to take a look in the mirror from time to time to ask yourself if you’re doing every thing you can to stay vigilant or if you might have any area of your Christian walk, patriotism or personal preparedness that is slipping into complacency.

Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Nehemiah 9

Even while they were in their kingdom, enjoying your great goodness to them in the spacious and fertile land you gave them, they did not serve you or turn from their evil ways.“But see, we are slaves today, slaves in the land you gave our forefathers so they could eat its fruit and the other good things it produces. Because of our sins, its abundant harvest goes to the kings you have placed over us. They rule over our bodies and our cattle as they please. We are in great distress. Nehemiah 9:35-37

Do you find the uncanny relevance of scriptures about the fall of ancient Israel to our present predicament in America downright spooky? I certainly do. It gives me chills up and down my spine. Today’s verse, for instance. Are we not slaves to our leaders in the land that God granted to our forefathers? Cattle was a store of value in Nehemiah’s day. Tax day is creeping up on each and everyone of us and the IRS rules over our stores of value. Federal taxes make up only a fragment of the wealth confiscation by our obese state. For a self-employed individual making $37,000, his top tax rate is 25%. Add in his employments tax  of 15.1%. Let’s assume a 5% state income tax which is nowhere near the 13.3% in the Peoples Republic of California. Of course, by now, most every dollar left is going to the essentials of survival and subject to state sales tax. We’ll be conservative and say 6%. I doubt this guy can afford health insurance by this stage in the game so let’s slap him with next year’s 2% Obamacare penalty. So what’s the good news?  After having 53% of his income siphoned off to give foreign aid to Islamic states like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and enslave the welfare class with freebies, Joe Average has only $17,390 to live on. There’s no way he can ever save up to buy a house, so he won’t have to worry about paying property taxes; at least not directly.
And do the kings rule over our bodies? According to the 2012 NDAA indefinite detention clause, your body can be thrown into prison, without cause or formal charge for an indefinite period. And what about the queen? She has taken it under her unelected, self-proclaimed jurisdiction to make sure the swill your children eat in the public schools is on par with the putrid material being digested by their minds.
The final thought is that you can’t afford to support a church that won’t get in the political fight. Yes, saving souls should always be the number one mission of the church, but I believe the church in America is capable of walking and chewing gum at the same time.
