Prepper Bible Study- King Asa II Chronicles 14-16

asa

2 Chronicles 15:2“The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.”

King Asa was a great King over the Southern kingdom of Israel, Judah. Early in his life, he was wholeheartedly devoted to God. He would pray to God before battle and God would grant him victory. King Asa was very careful to not allow idolatry and pagan worship in the kingdom during the first part of his reign as king. He tore down the pagan temples and altars that were in Judah when he took the throne. He led by example in teaching the inhabitants of the land to worship God.

As King Asa grew older, like all of us, he was busy with the concerns of life. He allowed his business as a King to get in the way of his wholehearted devotion to God. This complacency brought consequences in the latter years of King Asa’s reign. The King from the Northern Kingdom of Israel attacked King Asa.  Rather than seeking God as he had done in his youth, King Asa used the treasure from the Lord’s Temple to hire an army from Aram. The plan succeeded in stopping the attack, but God was not pleased with King Asa and determined that he would be at war constantly. The  prophet Hanani brought this message to King Asa:

For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.” II Chronicles 16:9

After this, King Asa contracted a disease in his feet. He refused to ask God for help with the disease. He died soon after getting the disease.

It is so important to carve out time everyday to maintain your relationship with your creator. Business can get to all of us. There are so many things that we have to do to keep going that there is never any time left over. You have to make a priority out of spending time with God or it will never happen.

If you are new to prepping or would like to learn more about how to prepare for tomorrow, please read our 7 Step Preparedness Plan. The most important prep of all is knowing GOD. Jesus said “what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his own soul?” Prepper translation: “What good will it do you to survive the coming economic collapse, nuclear war or even a zombie apocalypse if you don’t know you will go to heaven when you die.” A recent study found that 10 out of 10 people die! On that day we will meet our Maker. It only makes sense to be prepared for that day. Click here to learn more about knowing GOD.

Have a blessed week and happy prepping!
