A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it

Proverbs 22:3

Yes, you’ve seen this verse before, but today’s commentary looks at it from a different angle. This verse certainly speaks to the wisdom of physical preparation to prepare for tough times. This verse is very much the passage of scripture that PrepperRecon.com uses as a compass and lantern to show the way and light the path. In addition to physical preparedness, this verse also encourages us to be spirituality prepared. The LORD is our rock and our refuge from danger before any amount of beans, bullets or band-aids. And, in the same way we can’t wait for the crisis to stock up on provisions, neither can we wait ’til it hits the fan to seek refuge in The LORD.

The ideology of being a prepper is to be proactive. We understand the wisdom of buying a flashlight before the lights go out. We also should understand what a good decision it is to seek The LORD now before trouble comes. When we’re faced with TEOTWAWKI or a personal disaster like a job loss or bad news from the doctor, we’ll weather the storm much better if we’re steeped in our relationship with God. How do we do that? By dedicating time each day to being in His presence. The three primary ways of doing that are prayer, worship and reading your Bible. Supplemental ways are listening to Bible teachings on MP3 or radio, but nothing can replace getting one on one with God and studying his Word yourself.

In all of your New Year’s Resolutions, I hope you’ll make one of them to dedicate time alone with God so you’ll be spiritually prepared for what ever 2015 may have in store. If it’s anything like last year, we’ll have plenty of things to be thankful for but we’ll also have our share of challenging events. And, I don’t want to go through it without my Shield and my Refuge keeping me in His perfect shelter.

If you are new to prepping or would like to learn more about how to prepare for tomorrow, please read our 7 Step Preparedness Plan. Come back every Sunday for a new Prepper Bible Study! The most important prep of all is knowing GOD. Jesus said “what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his own soul?” Prepper translation: “What good will it do you to survive the coming economic collapse, nuclear war or even a zombie apocalypse if you don’t know you will go to heaven when you die.” A recent study found that 10 out of 10 people die! On that day we will meet our Maker. It only makes sense to be prepared for that day. Click here to learn more about knowing GOD.

Have a blessed day and happy prepping!
