Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Haggai 1:9
“You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the LORD Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with his own house.” Haggai 1:9
Last week’s Bible study was from the period of time when the Jews had just returned from their exile in Babylon to Jerusalem. With God’s help and faithfulness, they cleared the rubble left by the destruction of the city by the Babylonians and started to rebuild. After a while, they became preoccupied with building their own houses and neglected the temple. God calls them to account in today’s verse. He tells them that they aren’t prospering because they have allowed their focus to shift to their own needs. God will never fault you for wanting to provide for your family or even for your own needs, but he wants to be first. If that means he has to lighten up on the blessings to get your attention, he’ll do it.
In Haggai 1:6 God says ” You have planted much, but have harvested little.” If this sounds familiar, do a quick audit and make sure you are still putting God first. Are you dedicating time to prayer and Bible reading? Are you making time to worship? What about your finances? Do you trust God enough to give him 10% of you earnings through your church? What about service? If your time is the thing you value most, maybe God would like to see you get involved in serving others.
If you are new to prepping or would like to learn more about how to prepare for tomorrow, please read our 7 Step Preparedness Plan. Come back every Sunday for a new Prepper Bible Study! The most important prep of all is knowing GOD. Jesus said “what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his own soul?” Prepper translation: “What good will it do you to survive the coming economic collapse, nuclear war or even a zombie apocalypse if you don’t know you will go to heaven when you die.” A recent study found that 10 out of 10 people die! On that day we will meet our Maker. It only makes sense to be prepared for that day. Click here to learn more about knowing GOD.
Have a blessed day and happy prepping!
