Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Take a Stand in 2014

“Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them, or I will terrify you before them.Today I have made you a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand against the whole land–against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land.  They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD.” Jeremiah 1:17-19

In the first chapter of Jeremiah, God is instructing the young prophet to be brave and take a stand for the truth. God sends Jeremiah to warn his people of the impending doom that is about to fall on their land because of the people’s unfaithfulness towards God.

Jeremiah received his commission in 626 BC, yet it was another 20 years before the first signs of judgement would appear. Even after the first warning shot in 606 BC, God was patient and gave the people another 20 years to repent before he allowed the complete desolation of their land in 586 BC. When we fail to see immediate destruction because of the sins of America, don’t be fooled into thinking God is not paying attention, it just means that he is patient wanting to give our great country every opportunity to repent.

The total time from Jeremiah’s first warnings until the total destruction of Jerusalem was 40 years. Likewise, last year marked 40 years since the landmark case of Roe vs Wade where the Supreme Court condoned the murder of  56,000,000 innocent children since the ruling. I must say, I am curious as to how much longer God’s patience will hold out on America. One of the sins God tells Jeremiah to warn about in Jeremiah 32:35 is similar to abortion. It was the sin of sacrificing their children to the god of pleasure, Molech. Verse 35 reads:

“They built high places for Baal in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to sacrifice their sons and daughters to Molech, though I never commanded, nor did it enter my mind, that they should do such a detestable thing and so make Judah sin.”

In the opening verse of today’s study, God tells Jeremiah that his message will not be received well. In-fact, He says:

“They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you, declares the LORD.”

Nevertheless, Jeremiah faithfully executes his commission. He speaks the truth even though it lands him in prison and gets him thrown in  a muddy cistern . His life is threatened, yet he keeps speaking out against the depravity of his generation.  We are living in a similar culture. We recently saw Duck Dynasty’s star Phil Robertson bullied by A&E for speaking the truth of God’s word. In other recent news we  saw Chick-Fil-A  put through the fire for taking a stand for God’s word, Edward Snowden considered a criminal for telling us about the gross violations against our Bill of Rights, and reporter Michael Hastings die in a very peculiar car crash while he was investigating corruption inside the CIA.

Will you make your resolution for 2014 to speak out for truth in 2014? Remember, cowering in fear is no guarantee of escaping persecution. The “go along to get along” strategy of the Jews in Nazi Germany did not work out at all.

Remember God’s call to Jeremiah:
“Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them”

He didn’t say “tell them your opinion”. He said “say to them whatever I command you”. To get God’s message for this corrupt people, you are going to have to be connected to his Word. Do you have trouble understanding the Bible when you read it? Take a minute to ask God to help you understand it and speak to you through it before you sit down to read it. Give it a shot, you’ll find that it makes all the difference. Don’t know where to start? How about the book of Jeremiah. You will be fascinated by the parallels in God’s accusation against Jerusalem in the 7th Century BC and the infractions of America in 2014.

If you are new to prepping or would like to learn more about how to prepare for tomorrow, please read our 7 Step Preparedness Plan. The most important prep of all is knowing GOD. Jesus said “what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his own soul?” Prepper translation: “What good will it do you to survive the coming economic collapse, nuclear war or even a zombie apocalypse if you don’t know you will go to heaven when you die.” A recent study found that 10 out of 10 people die! On that day we will meet our Maker. It only makes sense to be prepared for that day. Click here to learn more about knowing GOD.

Have a blessed week and happy prepping!
