Sodom

Sunday Prepper Bible Study Genesis 19

“With the coming of dawn, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Hurry! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away when the city is punished.” Genesis 19:15

Lot was considered righteous by God and the angels came to warn him to get out of the city before they destroyed it. Lot escaped only with his life. It sounds like a pretty good story. After all, Lot survived right? But what did he lose? Lot lost almost everything but his life!

Let’s take a closer look at Lot’s experience. His wife was unable to leave Sodom without one last look. This act of disobedience caused her to be turned to salt. Tragic for her to say the least, but now Lot was on his own,  a single parent with two daughters. When Lot and Abraham parted ways in Genesis 13, it was because the two of them had become so wealthy that they could not both graze their livestock in the same place. Abraham let Lot chose the direction he would travel and Abraham took the other direction. Lot chose to pitch his tent near Sodom. When the angels escorted him out of the city, we are not told that Lot brings one single worldly possession as he had to bug out. It is my guess that Lot lost much wealth in the destruction of the city.

Now, let’s see if there were any warning sign. Is it possible that God was giving Lot some gentle nudges in the years leading up to the destruction of Sodom? Evidently, Sodom was rather infested with wickedness. After all, God saw fit to bring about quite a violent end to the city. Perhaps it wasn’t so bad when Lot first moved there. Maybe the neighborhood just started sliding down hill slowly. First they opened a little bar at the end of the street. A year later there was a palm reading shop next to a smoke shop that sold water bongs and drug paraphernalia. The following year Sodom opened a strip club and the old church became a goth night club. As you read this, the change is very obvious but perhaps for Lot, it was too slow to notice the severity of the change. He may have been the proverbial boiling frog. When you look in the mirror day after day, you are not likely to see your own hair growing but your friend who you see twice a year may say “wow, your hair grew a lot”!

Perhaps poor Lot was just never motivated enough by the slow decline to say “That is enough, I am moving out of here.” Perhaps it was just too inconvenient to take the girls out of school and start over. Isn’t it just easier to deal with things than to sell the house, find a new job and uproot the family? Besides that, the wife loves Sodom. It is really going to be a hard sell to convince her we need to move.

I am convinced, however, that God gave Lot a pretty good nudge to get out of town back in Genesis 14. In that chapter we read about Lot being  kidnapped by foreign invaders. Abraham hears about the incident and comes to rescue his nephew. Lot narrowly escapes this encounter with his life. Could God have allowed this event in hopes that Lot would sell  his house and seek greener pasture?

In our own lives, we can practice situational awareness by keeping a close eye on the moral decline of our city. We can be vigilant in prayer and ask God to give us a gentle nudge if it is time to move to a more conservative and lightly populated town. If you are reading Prepper Recon, you must have some inkling that things have the potential to get very bad in the future. It may cost you to make a move, but it may cost even more to stay put if you are living in a major metropolitan area.

Maybe Lot thought he was being a good husband by staying in Sodom. After all, his wife loved it so much that she had to have just one more look before they left. In the end, he failed his wife as a husband. She ended up dead. He also failed as a father by not getting his children out of town sooner. You can read the rest of the story yourself to see how the girls were affected by the loose morals of the city. They make some very troubling sexual choices at the end of Chapter 19

Liberal Media Hero

Che Guevara move over, there is a new star in town. Finally we get a little transparency from the leftist media! The liberal media has shown us what they are looking for in a hero. What more could they ask for than a drug using, America hating, Muslim. After all, isn’t that what we look for in a president these days? Tamerlan Tsarnaev embodies all that the left adores.

Besides being so ideologically perfect to achieve rock star status, Tamerlan has given us all a reason to quickly hand over our rights. It has been nearly 12 years since Americans were murdered by terrorists on 9/11. We were starting to question things like “Why does the IRS need assault rifles?”,”Why are we treated like criminals when we get on a plane?” , “Why are our phone calls, Google searches, Facebook posts, and Skype calls monitored by the NSA?”, “Why are people who tell us what the government is doing treated like criminals?”. After all, if they aren’t doing anything wrong, the government shouldn’t mind. Right? But thanks to the convenient attack by the liberal iconic figure Tamerlan, the vast amount of the American people will be lulled back into their sleep and easily hand over what little freedom they have left.

In all our left bashing, let us not forget the founding father of the police state lest the Neo-Cons feel left out. For it was the great George W. Bush who painstakingly laid the foundation in the “Patriot Act.” This labor of love built the infrastructure and established the blueprint for the Orwellian Police-Surveillance state that Obama has so masterfully perfected. The next heir to the throne, be he from the left or the right, will have a turn key dictatorship handed to him on a silver platter.

The search for Tamerlan after the bombing saw the worst violations of the 4th Amendment ever witnessed on American soil. After those atrocities were committed by the police state, Bostonians poured into the street to cheer on their oppressors and thank them for keeping them safe from the 19 year old hero, Tamerlan Tsarnaev. In case you missed the videos of the abuses of power, CLICK HERE to learn more. How ironic it is to see the city where the American Revolution began become a leader in embracing the chains of tyranny.

Charge Your Cell Phone Anywhere in the World – Image by Blaktee.net

Sponsored Guest Post from Adam at Suntactics

“Having a solar charger in an emergency situation where power is unavailable is worth more than gold.”

“I have been without electricity for a week in 2 different disasters, and I have bought a number of solar chargers over the years, all have eventually failed. This time, my husband insisted on a solar charger that did not require a battery pack to charge a cellphone. I read every review I could find on solar cellphone chargers and this is the best direct cell phone charger that I have found. On a cold sunny day, my sCharger-12 gives a 15% charge to my iPhone in 15 minutes, and it can charge two phones at a time! This purchase has proved to be worth every penny, and as a bonus – I really enjoyed the opportunity to buy American.”
Today more than ever before, we face many different types situations that could leave us in the dark, with no available source of electricity. Having a portable solar charger as an emergency power backup source is like having unlimited renewable energy in the palm of your hands. When SHTF (if there’s a nationwide blackout, natural disaster, or if you get lost in the woods), you can have portable solar energy for your cell phone, flashlights, GPS, and radios whenever you need it.
Many preppers have already found that having a handheld solar panel for their devices is one of the best survival decisions you can make, having a source of electrical energy out in the middle of nowhere is priceless. If you find yourself in the dark during a nationwide blackout (that can last for months or even years), or in a natural disaster, there would be no possible way to keep in touch with family, call for help, or keep updated on world events.
You can charge anything, not only cell phones and tablets, but GPS devices, two-way radios, music players, e-readers, cameras, radios, storage batteries, practically anything with a male USB connection. You can even charge flashlights, with brands like LED Lenser, INOVA, and Black Diamond.
Imagine having an unlimited source of portable energy, not having to deal with heavy batteries that will only last a couple of years in storage, get a convenient hassle-free solar charger from Suntactics!
Suntactics has been providing mobile energy to customers for several years, They have supplied solar chargers to over 10,000 men and women from all over the world. You can have one too, have the security knowing you can charge all of your mobile devices anytime, anywhere in the world. Suntactics solar chargers are extremely light weight, require no heavy batteries, and are slim enough to fit in a backpack or glove compartment, they are also water-resistant and durably built so you can be assured knowing it’s going to work despite weather or physical damage, can it get better than that? Check out Suntactics.com for more details.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”John 3:16

Sunday Prepper Bible Study- John 3:16

This verse is a pretty good definition of God’s mission statement. It gives us a very clear and concise reason for God sending Jesus to Earth. He was sent to pay the penalty of death that we deserved because of our sin. The Bible says in Romans 3:23 “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” That means no one lives a good enough life to get to heaven. The only way we can get to heaven to live for eternity is through the sacrifice of Christ.

As Christians, it is easy to forget this. Our expectations of God get a little off mission. We would have liked to add a little more on to that verse. for example, wouldn’t it have been nice if today’s verse  said “whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life and will never have car trouble and will always have a great job and will never get sick and will never be falsely accused of anything and will never make a bad stock pick .”  From our perspective, that would have been great. From God’s perspective, not so much. Those trials are often what pushes us into a closer relationship[p to God. It is also the fire that removes the dross from the silver. When the trials come, remember that you still get Heaven when this world is past. That is so much more than we deserve.

If you are new to prepping or would like to learn more about how to prepare for tomorrow, please read our 7 Step Preparedness Plan. The most important prep of all is knowing GOD. Detroit- America’s Crystal Ball

ball

Detroit- America’s Crystal Ball

Once the capital of industry, Detroit has now filed for bankruptcy. Detroit was the symbol of prosperity for the American working class. It represented what could be achieved through diligence and hard work. Detroit boasted the highest median household income in America at its peak.

Detroit also became a testing ground for liberal central urban planning and the influence of the unyielding United Auto Workers union. When economic conditions called for a little belt tightening, The UAW was unwilling to compromise on 7 weeks paid vacations, job banks that guaranteed no union worker could be laid off without full pay and Cadillac health plans. The jobs that averaged $74 per hour with pay and benifits were unsustainable and led to the GM bankruptcy. The health of the auto industry was tantamount to the health of Detroit.

Liberal politics added to the decay of The Motor City. Detroit has elected nothing but liberal mayors since 1961. This unholy marriage between liberals and the unions permeated the entire being of the city. In LBJ’s Model Cities program, the US Government pumped $490 million into Detroit. This putrid love affair between liberals and unions persists to this day. Unions line the coffers of liberals campaign funds. In turn, Democrats pilfer the pockets of tax payers to prolong the life of the hosts like GM, on which the parasitic unions feed. The life support systems are only effective for so long. Eventually, the collapse happens.

On a grimmer note, the federal government is following in the footsteps of Detroit. Unions and welfare recipients have the same symbiotic relationship to the liberals in DC as in Detroit. They scratch each other’s back, all the while, they feed on the American taxpayer until they have destroyed their host. Unfortunately, the problem is only exasperated by the neo-con, pro war portion of the Republican Party. They seek to rob the country of its wealth by enriching the military industrial complex. Members from both parties are content to squander the riches of our nation through the big budget of the police-surveillance state.

The people of Detroit face a murder rate that is more than 5 times the national average, a drop out rate of nearly 75%, and a 911 response times of 58 minutes for high priority crimes. Only 8.7% of reported crimes are solved. Many go unreported because citizens know it is a waste of time to call police. Detroit is not a one-off  city. Several municipalities have similar burgeoning debt and are expected to follow in Detroit’s foot steps. Among the most troubled are Cleveland OH, Cincinnati OH, San Diego Ca, Newark NJ, and Buffalo NY. The state government of California is also facing severe economic challenges. The same trends that have bankrupted Detroit continue for the federal government and we should expect a similar out come.

Rumors are being circulated the Detroit municipal bond holders will be offered 20 cents on the dollar while pensioners will be offered 10 cents on the dollar. Of course on the federal level, there is less of a chance of that happening because of the federal government’s ability to print currency to pay bond holders, social security recipients and pensioners. The problem is how much that devalues all of the existing currency when that money is printed. In all likelihood, if you hold $100 in US Treasuries, you will be paid back $100. However, that $100 may only purchase the same amount of goods as $25 today. Effectively, you will have received 25 cents on the dollar. Even though you still receive the same amount in nominal terms. Inflation is still a default by another name.

Many of the cities mentioned above should expect to have reduced services, higher crime rates, and decaying educational systems. Citizens of Detroit who held out hoping things would get better have found themselves stuck in a dystopian nightmare. If liberalism is ruining your city, get out now while you still have your life and ability to start over. As the federal government continues to rob Americans of their wealth through inflation and excessive taxation, your ability to provide for yourself will increasingly diminish. The best way to combat these effects are to live below your means and develop other income streams such as rental property or a home business. One way of hedging against  inflation is to keep some portion of your wealth in gold and silver. I always use JM Bullion as I find them to have the lowest  price over spot. Use coupon code PR5 to get $5 off any order over $300.

The following videos present a great synopsis of the problems that ruined Detroit and are ruining America.

Prepping for Earthquakes

earthquake

Prepping for Earthquakes

Preparedness has some common threads, no matter what you are prepping for. This is because the basic need for survival do not change, and several different types of natural and man made disasters will disrupt the availability to those common needs. With that said, each individual disaster has the potential to affect your ability to meet your basic survival needs in a different way. Today’s post will look at a few ways to make your plan a bit more specific to disruptions from an earthquake. People who live along the San Andreas fault in California or near the New Madrid seismic zone in the mid-west know that they are both long overdue for the big one.

Water

Keeping a supply of bottled water is essential for those who live in zones susceptible to earthquakes. This can be done very cheaply by keeping old soda or juice bottle, cleaning them thoroughly and refilling them from the tap. Most everyone should keep a few gallons of water stored, regardless of where you live. One of extra precautions that should be taken by those in earthquake territory is to break up your supply. Perhaps you should keep a few gallons in the garage, few in the office closet and a few under the bed. Having it spread around increases your chances of being able to access it if one part of your home collapses. I would also recommend having at least one high quality water filter like the Katadyn Hiker Pro. Water lines may be broken and completely not work after an earthquake. Water lines may also be compromised and therefore contaminated. Do not drink water from your regular source after an earthquake until you have been given the all clear.

Bug Out Bag

Your bug out bag should have all the essentials you need to survive for 72 hours. We have an extensive article on Bug Out Bags as part of our 7 Step Survival Plan. This basic preparedness toll does not change regardless of the threat. Perhaps those living near faults should try to keep it stored near the door. You will also want to be sure you have a good tent in your bag. Bugging out for you may mean camping out in your backyard. Earthquakes tend to disrupt the stability of structures making them dangerous to live in, even if they are not destroyed. Additionally, after shocks from large earthquakes can cause further damage without warning. After an earthquake, plan to stay outside of your house until you get the all clear from an engineer.

Food

Food is  another common thread for all sorts of disaster preparedness. Like the water, you may want to break up your food storage into different areas of your home, for the same reasons. Be sure to keep some easy to prepare and ready to eat food items on hand as cooking fuel may be hard to come by. Gas lines may break and power lines may be severed leaving you with only the cooking fuel you have stored. Camping stoves do not take up much room and the propane tanks that are used to fuel them last for several years. We also have a very extensive article on Food Storage as part of out 7 Step Survival Plan.

Security

After the earthquake in Haiti, people saw looters coming into their camps at night. Since most everyone was outside in some sort of make shift tent, all of there supplies were very vulnerable. If someone is stealing your supplies, they are threatening your very life as you may not survive without those supplies. You must be willing to defend your supplies as you would defend your life as there will be little difference. Many people think the shotgun is the ultimate home defense weapon. Shotguns are still legal to possess in most parts of the country at the time of this writing. Nebo makes a great adapter to mount a tactical light to your shotgun to allow you to visually sweep an area with the weapon and the light simultaneously.

First Aid

First aid is a priority for those living in seismic activity zones. Falling debris and even rescue efforts can leave you with serious cuts and breaks. Hospitals will be overwhelmed and transportation may be incapacitated. Here is a great article on building a proper first aid kit.

Situational Awareness

Staying aware of the seismic activity in your area s a very good idea. Major earthquakes often happen without warning, but earthquakes in one seismic zone may indicate that tectonic plates are becoming less stable in other zones as well. Here is a great site monitor seismic activity. It is also available by clicking the Seismic Monitor icon on the left side bar of PrepperRecon.com.  You can download the Scanner Radio app to your smart phone. If you still have service after the quake, it will allow you to listen in on police and rescue radios to determine what areas have been hardest hit. Also have a plan with your family on where to meet if your can not get home. Sometimes after disasters, text messages will still go through even when regular telephone communications are overloaded. Also keep a pair of good walking shoes, a small first aid kit, a few bottles of water and some snack bars in the car in case you have to get home on foot after an earthquake.

It is impossible to fully plan for a life altering event like an earthquake, but taking these simple steps will increase you chances of survival.

Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Psalms 59

Sunday Prepper Bible Study- Psalms 59

“Deliver me from evildoers and save me from bloodthirsty men. See how they lie in wait for me! Fierce men conspire against me for no offense or sin of mine, O LORD. I have done no wrong, yet they are ready to attack me.” Psalms 59:2-4

Prior to being made King, David found himself being pursued by the previous King Saul. Though he had done nothing wrong, King Saul repeatedly sought to have David killed. David was forced to hide in caves and live the life of a criminal because he was on the run. Much of the Psalms, including today’s verse  were written by David during this period of his life. David never quit petitioning God for justice. As there was no higher earthly power than Saul, David made his appeal to Heaven.

A bit of time would go by and Saul would apologize for trying to kill David. The two would be reunited for a while then King Saul would flip again and David would be back on the run. This dysfunctional cycle continued for years, but David never quit asking God to defend him and keep him safe. Even though the valley was dark David never lost his faith in God to eventually deliver him. In verse 16 David wrote “ But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.“

Today’s podcast is the companion podcast to Step 1 of our 7 Step Survival Plan. We will be doing a companion podcast for each of the 7 Step over the next few weeks. Frank Raccioppi III is a Christian prepper and blogger. Frank joins me to discuss physical, mental and spiritual preparedness.

Before you start buying beans, bullets and band-aids, you should take a basic inventory of yourself. Making a decision to start exercising and eating better takes discipline, but it is the single best thing that you can do to improve your chances of survival whether the world falls apart or not. Being in good shape mentally and spiritually will also affect you ability to deal with a breakdown in society.

Frank and I discuss the importance of diet and exercise as well as the benefits of eliminating addictions before the stuff hits the fan. Take it from someone who has been sober for 9 years, there is never a good time to go through withdraws, especially not when the world is falling apart. If you are struggling with addiction, take it on now while you still have the  other creature comforts of our modern world. If you don’t know where to start, go to the contact page,  e-mail me and I will be happy to point you in the right direction.

We  discuss the wisdom of avoiding items like cigarettes and alcohol as barter items. Depending on these types of items for barter in a TEOTWAWKI  scenario will attract all the wrong people to your area of operation. Those relationships may jeopardize your safety and the safety of your family. People who are dealing with addictions when the collapse occurs will expand their resources to make sure their addictions are satisfied. Once those resources are depleted, they will be hungover and hungry. Once desperation overtakes them, they know exactly where to go for food, because they have seen your stockpile when they were trading with you for alcohol and cigarettes.

We talk about some practical steps you can take to keep your mind calm in stressful situations. We also talk about the importance of being spiritually prepared.

I hope you enjoyed today’s show. Check out Frank’s website at EzekielThirtyThree.org
